About us

We created The Alpines primarily because it’s what we needed. We don't live in the mountains so wanted a fitness plan that would keep us fit and ready for them year round.


We wanted a combination of general strength and fitness, mobility and mountain specific training which we couldn't find elsewhere.

Ultimately though, the goal for The Alpines is to give us, and hopefully you, an excuse to have more adventures.

I'm Paul, a health coach, ex personal trainer, living in Chester, UK.

My love for the mountains probably started from my Dad who was big into mountaineering and, as a kid, I was lucky enough to have trips to Corsica, skiing in the Alps and hiking in wet boggy Wales.

Since then, I’ve always been drawn to the mountains and not just for the fun activities, there’s something inherently calming and good for my mental health about being in the alpines.

I’m hoping I’ll still be hiking and sliding in my 90’s, maybe even 100’s, and The Alpines is how I’m planning on getting there. See you on the mountain in 2080! 👴🏻

Favourite hike: Mer de glace, Chamonix.
Favourite ski resort: Morzine for the food, St Gervais for the charm.
